This is a paragraph from one of the Narnia book – “The horse and his boy”.
I thought it’s quite interesting, and would like to share with you all.
The story to it is: This horse has been kipnapped as foal and grew up with ordinary horses. But deep insdie, he has felt he is different from other horse and always longing to go back to Narnia one day. During the process of escaping, he and others has ran into the lion. But he didn’t have the courage to face the lion and save the others, Instead, he has became afraid and stand still like any other ordinary horse. Next Day, after they have been safe, he felt that he couldn’t go back to Narnia, because he fail to be a brave Narnian. and here is what the Hermit from Southen March has said to him:
My good horse, you’ve lost nothing but your self-conceit. … If you are really so humbled as you sounded a minute ago, you must learn to listen to sense. You’re not quite the great Horse you had come to think, from living among poor dumb horses. Of course you were braver and cleverer than them. You could hardly help being that. It doesn’t follow that you’ll be anyone very special in Narnia. But as long as you know you’re nobody special, you’ll be a very decent sort of Horse, on the whole, and and taking one thing with another…
Lot of people always feel that they are different from others, and slowly looking down those around them and become kind of arrangant. (just like the horse in the book. He always feel he is smarter than other horse, or even human. He always believe that “Narnia” is only place he belong…) Or they may go totally different way, thinking they are worse than anyone else and hide.
Maybe, those people do have some quality that’s different from others. But They are so into this quality that they lost all the connection with the world.
They never consider this: other than that 1% of the quality that is different from others, they are actually no differnt from anyone else in this world.
If one day, they decide they are no different from others,
They will then able to look into their own abilities, and not wasting time trying to make themselves any different.
they will be more realistic and practical about themselves, and start to face and deal with every task in their life.
Slowly, they will become different without even trying, and also gain their strength which give them courage to work with their purpose of life.
maybe, not everyone will agree with me, But I really like this paragraph in this book and would love to share with you all.
AS it is for me, I waste big chunk of my life trying to be like everyone else. Because, I have a stereotype standards toward being “Normal”.
Until I start to regonize that: Maybe everyone has their own special abilities, and everyone is born differently in order to work their purpose of life,
I start to understand, I am just as normal as anyone else.
The next thing I know, I stop wasting so much energy fighting with myself, and more willing to work with my own task with whatever I got.
Thought I will share with you all…
